Queenstown for kids and babies
New to town and pregnant, with a newborn or toddlers? There are plenty of places and spaces where you can connect with other mums and get all the support and services you need. Plunket, both in Queenstown and Arrowtown. The Queenstown rooms are HQ, running antenatal and new parent programmes, including Tiny Toes and Little Wrigglers. The Arrowtown rooms host Remarkable Mothers every 2nd and 3rd Thursday at 11am, and is designed to support and take a less serious look at the trails and tribulations – and joys – of parenting. Nadi Pregnany and Mums & Bubs Yoga
Queenstown rooms offers Pregnancy Yoga on Friday at 11am while Mums and Bubs yoga is on Mondays at 11am. At Nadi Wellness Centre in Remarkables Park pregnancy yoga is at 5:45pm on Monday while Mums and Bubs is on Tuesday afternoons at 1:30pm.
SPACE NZ programme
The Queenstown Salvation Army runs the SPACE NZ programme, a non-denominational informal but education support service and play area for mainly first-time parents and their babies. Each Wednesday session at their central Queenstown location is run by a trained facilitator offering from 10am-12pm. It’s a 10-week programme and it costs $30 for the whole term, so you need to book.
Mainly Music run by the Wakatipu Community Presbyterian Church in Queenstown and Arrowtown. This free session is designed to teach both parents and children educational musical interaction, rhyming and singing with instruments, snacks and drinks provided.
Mini-Muscles is an interactive, children’s developmental movement session that is supervised and using appropriate equipment – it is not Cross Fit for children! It is educational and fun and parents/caregivers/grandparents must participate. It caters to newborn up to 5 years and is located in the Queenstown Events Centre in Frankton, running Thursdays.
